Scoundrel
A solo dungeon card-crawler built from a stripped standard deck.
Overview
You are a scoundrel delving into a dangerous dungeon where every card is an encounter. Each turn, 4 cards form a Room. You must survive by playing 3 of them before moving deeper. The fourth card carries over, shaping what comes next.
Cards
♠ ♣ Monsters: These deal damage equal to their value when fought. Aces are the deadliest.
♦ Weapons: Equip to reduce incoming damage from monsters.
♥ Healing: Restore HP, up to a maximum of 20, once per round.
Weapons have a chain rule: after defeating a monster with a weapon, it can only be used against weaker monsters. If you encounter something stronger or equal, the chain breaks and you must fight bare-handed.
Flow
- You start with 20 HP.
- Each Room contains 4 face-up cards.
- You must play 3 cards to advance to the next Room.
- The remaining card stays and becomes part of the next Room.
- New cards are drawn to refill empty slots.
- You may skip a Room to discard it and draw a fresh one, but not two skips in a row.
Win / Lose
- Win: You survive long enough to exhaust the deck and escape the dungeon.
- Lose: Your HP drops to 0 or below from monster damage.
Controls
The game is fully playable with mouse, touch, or drag-and-drop.
- Click / tap: Automatically performs the best available action (fight, equip, or heal).
- Drag to weapon zone: Fight using your equipped weapon.
- Drag to discard: Fight bare-handed.
- Right-click / long press (monster): Force a bare-handed fight.
Tips
Plan your turn order carefully: fighting stronger monsters first often lets your weapon chain work more efficiently. Sometimes it’s better to take a small hit bare-handed to preserve a strong weapon chain for later threats. Healing is limited each round, so timing matters more than raw recovery. And don’t underestimate skipping — but use it sparingly, since you can’t skip twice in a row.
